pronounced /bôs/ “boss”
Welcome to Baus Burger, a celebration of rugged history and culinary love nestled in the heart of Nederland, CO. Our story is inspired by Nederland's rich past, from its early days as a hunting and trading hub for the Ute and Arapaho tribes, to its transformation into a bustling mining town, due to the Dutch influence in the 1870s. Our name, 'Baus', is a playful nod to 'Baas', the Dutch word for 'boss.’ However, Baus also has Germanic roots meaning ‘a great armful feast’ or ‘a gourmand.’ In more recent history, Baus, has made it’s way into urban dictionaries to mean ‘the boss - except way more awesome’ or ‘the ultimate level of coolness.’
